Jeff the Fencer

My second day blogging and already I'm feeling overwhelmed....Luckily I only have one person reading them (my wife).  Hopefully in the future more people will follow.

Because I initially created this blog for business I might as well give you a brief background of myself and the company I work for.  I graduated college in 1995 and have been in the fence business ever since.  My wife's family was in the business and I was soon hired to help build fences but quickly found out the selling them was more my speed.  I had worked for an established fence company for a couple of years when my brother in law started his own company, Premier Fence and Deck.  He couldn't afford to hire me the first year but soon after he did.  Basically he was selling the commercial work and I was selling the residential work, all the time working out of a tiny living room in his house.  That's pretty much how it started......the company grew quickly soon selling over 5 million dollars a year with a sales staff of seven.  Housing was great and the economy was booming.  We had tremendous growth and things were great until...........................tune into my next blog to find out what happened..

In the meantime, check out our website at http://premierfence.net/

My first blog

Admittedly for my first blog I'm not expecting too much.  As I sit here and type I'm learning how to layout, design and get this thing up and running.  I'm not a celebrity (well kind of) or someone very important but I think the appeal of this blog is having an ordinary Joe (or Jeff) write about everyday stuff that most people go through.  It's almost overwhelming the amount of social media that is available for people and companies to take advantage of.  Lately I'm doing Facebook, Twitter and now this blog.  Each day or week it seems like something else is being invented for us to communicate with people 24 hours a day.  I'm a sales manager for a fencing and decking company and I try to use these types of social media to promote my company.  So some of my blogs may be professional in nature and others may be some cool stuff that's going on with me or even something simple that one of my daughters say to me throughout the course of the day.  Here is a link to the madness that social media has to offer: http://www.readwriteweb.com/
